VIDEO MAPPING ON THE FACADE OF ST. PETER'S BASILICA
The client was looking for a new language to tell the faithful the story of the Apostle Peter. The request was to merge art and technology to create a show capable of conveying the message of the Catholic tradition in a modern key.
We designed a projection mapping show to animate the over 5,000m2 of the facade of St. Peter’s Basilica, through video content that blended works of art, 3D animations and special effects in computer graphics. The technical configuration required the use of 20 Panasonic PT-RZ31K video projectors, positioned on four-story towers located in specific points along the colonnade of St. Peter’s Square. The hardware was controlled by a broadcast system consisting of 8 WATCHOUT servers with 8K output. The show was proposed every evening from 3 to 16 October 2022. The project had great media coverage, also at an international level, and the videos showing the projection reached millions of views.
